Here Today, Gone Tomorrow

Yesterday, my classmate Faiyaz passed away in Square Hospital due to COVID. He was battling for his life in life support for the last seven days. But unfortunately, he couldn’t win his fight. RIP brother.

We used to live in the same North Hall of IUT. His room is just three rooms away from mine. So many days, we, along with our other hall friends, had taken our lunch and dinner together. He was a very cheerful and easy-going person. Apart from this, he was also a very talented one. I even once played a FIFA match with him, and I can still remember; it was a drawn match. Memories keep flashing.

For the whole of yesterday night, I couldn’t sleep. I still can’t believe he is gone. I never imagined that something like this was written in his fate. This is the harsh reality of this cruel world. None of us is aware of what’s going to happen to us some moments later. But I think we are better off by not knowing it. Sometimes, it’s a blessing to not know what you are up for. We only know the intrinsic value of a moment when it becomes a memory. So let’s cherish the short moments we have in our life. Let us keep faith in God, do good for ourselves and others. Our goal should be to serve our Lord, for that is the essence of life.

Here Today, Gone Tomorrow
But You Have to Walk a Thousand Miles.

“And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient.
Who, when disaster strikes them, say, “Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.”
Those are the ones upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy. And it is those who are the [rightly] guided.
